A few days ago, Design Build Ideas brought to light a marvelous design event that will be taking place in a couple of weeks in Oporto, the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit 2018. That time, we only touched the surface of what would be discussed and what was the main goal of this gathering. Now, our blog will reinforce the ideals of this event – mainly to elevate design and craftsmanship as well as celebrate design with enthusiasts of this art – by showing you what type of arts will be featured and who will be the main speakers.

 

 

 

It wouldn’t be a strong and amazing Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit if it didn’t present showcases of several arts of craftsmanship, including leaf gilding, filigree, azulejo, embroidery, arraoilos, bilros, and many other ancient art forms and techniques. From 20-21 June, there will several live showcases enhanced by the expertise of amazing artisans and craftsmen who will show you how the work is done and how one can create spectacular pieces of fashion, jewelry and furniture.

 

 

 

As previously mentioned, the summit will have an incredible line-up of prestigious speakers that have been in this industry for quite some time. Let’s see who is going share their knowledge and points of view at this extraordinary summit:

 

Michelangelo Foundation, an international non-profit entity that celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship.

 

Boca do Lobo, Portuguese brand of furniture-art design recognized for its unique and innovative design always hand-worked.

 

Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, a foundation created with the objective of protecting and disseminating the Portuguese Decorative Arts and handicrafts.

 

Luís Onofre, designer of luxury shoes and accessories.

 

Vista Alegre, the oldest porcelain factory in the Iberian Peninsula.

 

Topázio, a Portuguese company with more than 140 years of history and an expert in hand-carved silver designs

 

Portuguese Jewellery and Watchmaking Association, a national business association that reveals the best of jewellery and watches within a wide variety of sectors and activities.

 

Storytailors, their work combines history, contemporaneity and the future all together, resulting in timeless creations.
