Regarded as one of the best interior designers in the world, Kelly Hoppen always seeks to reinvent her work by selecting the most exquisite projects to develop. Quite recently, Hoppen was responsible for the interior design of an extraordinary luxury resort in Mauritius, LUX* Grand Gaube, creating a clever balance between contrasts and fresh designs. Today, Design Build Ideas will take a look at the phenomenal interiors of this hospitality project.
The LUX* Grand Gaube is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens, undulating coves, the soothing lagoons and serene beaches. It features generous rooms with balconies and terraces, romantic junior suites, plenty of lively restaurants and bars that offer that island vibe that is so calm and relaxing as well as stellar villas with private gardens and pools. Guests also benefit from stunning views of the Indian Ocean.
In December 2017, the South-African born British designer completely redesigned the interiors of the hotel giving it an eclectic retro-chic style that is not only “effortlessly sophisticated” but also “blissfully informal”.
Just to mention some of the most astonishing features, in the guest rooms, one could find some of the most exquisite decorative touches, including woven African baskets, wicker tables, geometric tiles and reclaimed Victorian bathtubs while the Argentinian-Peruvian restaurant of the resort features a vibrant décor that goes hand in hand with the scrumptious cuisine.
Simplicity and refinement are seen throughout the resort and that is why it is considered one of the best in the world, giving you that “home away from home” feeling.
