This week, we will be focusing our attention on the International Design & Architecture Awards 2013.

Hosted by leading interior design magazine design et al, The International Design & Architecture Awards reward the best in design from across the globe. There are 4 categories, Design and Architecture, Yacht and Aviation, Hotel and Property and Product Design.
For today we will look into the INTERNATIONAL HOTEL AND PROPERTY AWARDS. There are hundreds of entrants over 28 different sub-categories. You can check every entrant here, on their website. The decisions were very hard make, as every one deserves an award, but, here are our picks on the major ones.
HOTEL (OVER 200 ROOMS)
Project Name: PARKROYAL on Pickering
Interior Designer: WOHA
PARKROYAL on Pickering is a 16-storey mixed-use development comprising of hotel and a single-tower of office. It is strategically situated at the gateway of Singapore’s Central Business District, between Hong Lim
Park and bustling Chinatown
HOTEL (50 – 200 ROOMS)
Project Name: Conrad Koh Samui
Location: Koh Samui, Thailand
Interior Designer: Wilson Associates
Completion: September 2011
The resort features 80 standalone villas, 65 one-bedroom villas, 14 two-bedroom villas and a Royal Villa, all built on a cliff overlooking the gulf of Siam.
HOTEL (UNDER 50 ROOMS)
Project Name: Fogo Island Inn
Location: Fogo Island, Newfoundland, Canada
Interior Designer: Shorefast Foundation in collaboration with Saunders
Architecture, Studioilse, Rintala Eggertsson Architects, and 2H Interior Design

Completion: May 2013
The Fogo Island Inn was commissioned and is owned by the Shorefast Foundation, a Canadian charitable organisation established to foster the cultural and economic resilience of this outport community that traditionally had relied on the fishery for all of its needs.
Project Name: Mission Hills Volcanic Mineral Springs and Spa
Location: Haikou, Hainan, China

Built on centuries-old lava rock and enriched with abundant natural resources in a breath-taking natural environment, this is the world’s largest volcanic mineral springs and spa resort.
SKI (HOTEL OR CHALET)
Project Name: The Matterhorn Focus
Location: Zermatt, Switzerland
Architect: Heinz Julen

For the 135m2 Royal Suite the brief was to create a timeless elegance appealing to discerning, international guests.

The design brief was to create an elegant and chic restaurant, using natural materials wherever possible highlighting regional, Italian cuisine. The classic cocktail lounge, with its striking bar design is an informal affair.

Project Name: Hilton Rooftop Restaurant & Bar
Location: Pattaya, Thailand
Completion: May 2012
A truly unique, innovative rooftop restaurant and bar venue in Pattaya, offering dramatic views of this city by the sea.
Project Name: Playground
Location: Hilton, Liverpool
Interior Designer: Blacksheep
Completion: January 2012
Glamorous private members nightclub occupying 3500 sq ft of the ground floor of the Liverpool Hilton.
Project Name: Golden Moon
Location: Victoria Park, Hong Kong
The Golden Moon was built in only 11 days and shows how, through a combination of state-of-the-art digital design technology and traditional hand craftsmanship, complex geometry can be built at high speed and low cost with the simplest of means.
Project Name: Google Office
Location: Central Tel Aviv, Israel
Architect: Camenzind Evolution in collaboration with Setter Architects and Studio Yaron Tal
Completion: December 2012
This new office occupies 8 floors and accommodates 500 workstations within a space of approximately 8000 m2 in the prestigious Electra Tower, including breath-taking views across the entire city and the sea.
Project Name: The Hive Graffiti Apartments
Location: Carlton, Victoria, Australia
Architect: Zvi Belling
The architect developed this three apartment project with PROWLA, a well known Melbourne graffiti artist who contributed the design of the ‘wild style’ letters that are inscribed in the pre-cast concrete walls of the apartments, along with other hip hop iconography. The graffiti relief panel spells ‘Hive’
