Nano restaurant by Ora-Ïto, Paris
Brainchild of French hip designer Ora Ïto and his associates, the Nano restaurant adds a luxe veneer to the quick bite – no crêpes here – by letting each customer decide how much he wants to eat of every dish chef Olivier Chaput cooks.
There are no less than 25 different units to choose from, the dishes come in small glass verrines sold for €2 to €3.50 each, allowing clients to sample delectable portions of risotto with scallops, tomato-strawberry-feta cheese-basil salad, sea bream ceviche or prawn-coco-broccoli cocktail. This pixel-like idea of food blends with the seemingly undulating artwork – representing a pixel wave – across the entire length of the restaurant, it is a true eye-catcher, and consists entirely of oak wood. The atmosphere is that of a fast-food restaurant with that of a contemporary art gallery, combining elements such as wood and felt to create a welcoming atmosphere.
