Ventura Centrale’s Best Design Experiences at Milan Design Week 2018 ⇒ With the biggest design week making its arrival, over the upcoming weeks, Design Build Ideas will focus exclusively on the amazing design experiences that Milan Design Week has to offer, and will be starting off with one of the most extraordinary scenes from Ventura Projects, Ventura Centrale. Originated last year, Ventura Centrale returns for its 2nd edition and ready to showcase a wide variety of installations of renowned international designed labels and studios.

Last year, the event displayed original, awe-inspiring and dynamic developments in industrial warehouses underneath Milan’s Central Station. This year, the event will bring eight more imprssive and overwelming design experiences, making it an essential platform to visit during one of the most important happenings in the design industry and Italy. Now, our blog will feature 5 of the most fierce design experiences one will get to see in this amazing venue.
Wooden Giants and Dwarfs Come to Life Courtesy of horgenglarus and Stephan Hürlemann

The installation ‘Riesen mit Zwerg’, comprised of seven giant wooden figures was built by architect and designer Stephan Hürlemann who used chair and table parts from the more than 100 years old component archive at manufacturer Horgenglarus. Hürlemann left all the parts in the condition in which he found them and merely drilled holes so that they could be connected with cable ties.
A Unique Sound Experince by AGC Asahi Glass

‘Sound’ will be at the core of the installation of the Japanese AGC Asahi Glass, the world-leading manufacturer for glass, chemicals and high-tech materials. This year’s soundscape concept is to create a space that enables visitors to experience auditory phenomena in new ways, using sound-generating glass currently under development at AGC. Sounds emanate from transparent glass, providing entirely new sensations for the visitor. This exhibit will blend together design, technology and aesthetics.
The Diner – A Special Collaboration Between Surface Magazine and David Rockwell

Marking its 25th anniversary, Surface Magazine invited architect David Rockwell, of the award-winning Rockwell Group and a selection of emerging and established American designers, including the design studio 2×4, to bring a new interpretation of the good old American Diner to Milan. The diner is an undisputed icon of American culture, a symbol of accessible food and entertainment, a supporting character in classic movies like Pulp Fiction and When Harry Met Sally.
Nitto’s Brings Color Into Your Life Through a Vibrant Exhibition

The exibition from Japanese brand, Nitto will be all about color. HARU stuck-on design shows you ‘Bring color into your life’, a series of colourful adhesive tapes offering a new way of styling space. Three different materials are on display: washi tape, soft glossy PET tape and transparent OPP tape. The combinations of different colours, patterns and textures offer many mix-and-match possibilities for creative souls.
Transitions III: Experimental Inventiveness at Ventura Centrale Vaults – Meet the work of Six Leading Dutch design studios


Baars and Bloemhoff return to Ventura Centrale Vaults for the Transitions III: Experimental Inventiveness. Six leading Dutch design studios were invited to work with the company’s extensive materials collection. Bart Joachim van Uden, Christian Heikoop, Floris Wubben, Job van der Berg, Mae Engelgeer and Studio Truly Truly will show the public startling techniques, applications and combinations.
