KO+KO architects, Aleksei Komarov and Zakhar Kozoliy have together design this small weekend house in response to a client’s desire. He needed a spacious and welcoming apartment in a 160 square meters area located in Kiev. It was supposed to accommodate two additional bedrooms and a studio where artists could collaborate or to just be used as a private gallery.
White, gray and black, wood, masonry and concrete surfaces, predominate the free interplay of horizontal and vertical volumes and functional unity of the apartment, as well as avant-garde touches that characterize the apartment with the spirit of courage, but not exclusively masculine in nature. A number of interesting techniques are used to emphasize the feeling of comfort in this house while, at the same time, retaining its industrial nature.
